RESTORATIVE

Bring Your Smile’s Luster Back

What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and rebuilding teeth that have been damaged by decay, wear, fracture, or infection. The goal is not only to restore the appearance of your smile, but also to protect your oral health, comfort, and long-term function.

At Kathryn Strassner, DDS, we take a conservative, detail-oriented approach to restorative care. Every treatment plan is customized to your specific needs, using modern materials and techniques designed to look natural, feel comfortable, and last.

Whether you need a small filling or more comprehensive restoration, our focus is on preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible while delivering predictable, high-quality results.

Restorative Procedures

  • Fillings

Tooth-colored (composite) fillings are used to repair cavities and minor tooth damage while maintaining a natural appearance. These fillings are carefully shaded to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, making them an excellent option for both front and back teeth.

Composite fillings bond directly to the tooth structure, allowing for a more conservative preparation and added strength. They restore function, protect against further decay, and help maintain the natural look of your smile.

  • Root Canals

When the inner portion of a tooth becomes infected, root canal therapy may be necessary to save the tooth and relieve discomfort. The procedure removes infected tissue, cleans the tooth, and seals it to prevent further issues.

Following treatment, the tooth is typically restored with a crown to protect its structure and function.

  • Crowns

A dental crown is a custom-made restoration that fully covers a damaged or weakened tooth. Crowns are often recommended when a tooth has extensive decay, fractures, large fillings, or after root canal therapy.

Our crowns are designed for durability, comfort, and aesthetics. Each crown is crafted to match your natural bite and tooth color, helping restore strength while preserving a lifelike appearance.

  • Tooth extractions

A tooth extraction may be recommended when a tooth is too damaged, infected, or compromised to be restored. While preserving natural teeth is always our priority, there are situations where removing a tooth is the healthiest option for your overall oral health.

Extractions are performed with careful planning, modern techniques, and a focus on patient comfort. We take time to explain why an extraction is necessary and discuss replacement options when appropriate.

  • Bridges

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring a prosthetic tooth to the neighboring teeth. Bridges restore your ability to chew properly, maintain facial structure, and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of position.

A well-designed bridge can significantly improve both function and confidence while supporting long-term oral health.

  • Replacing Old or Failing Dental Work

Over time, fillings, crowns, and other restorations can wear down or fail. Replacing old dental work can improve comfort, function, and appearance while reducing the risk of decay or fracture.

We carefully evaluate existing restorations and recommend replacement only when it benefits your long-term oral health.es here
